Our Exterior Painting Process
1- Power Wash
- Power wash exterior surfaces to remove dirt, dust, mold and any other natural substances.
- Make sure windows and doors are closed before starting.
- Never leave the pressure washer running when not in use.
- Avoid going up high on ladders due to slip risk.
2- Area Preparation
- Cover the floor.
- Use painter's tape and plastic covers to seal objects that will not be painted.
- Cover any trees, furniture, grills, and vents and ask the owner/customer to move cars away from the work area before beginning spraying.
- Scrape any peeling paint from surfaces before painting.
- Add primer.
3- Caulking
- Clean the surfaces.
- Caulk around trims where needed.
- Use your fingers and a wet sponge to obtain a clean and even application.
- Make sure to scrape any peeling paint or to remove any old caulk before applying the new caulking.
4- Painting
- Apply the paint following the manufacturer's specifications using the appropriate paint applicator tools, such as paint sprayer, paintbrush and paint roller. Repeat the process as needed to obtain a solid, even color.
- Avoid over-spraying, paint drips, direct sunlight on wet paint, high wind, high humidity and cold weather.
- Complete a final inspection and cleanup.

Types of Exterior Paint
Exterior paints have similar choices for finishes as interior paints, but the pros and cons can be different for outdoor use.

Satin Paint
Satin paint is commonly used for siding but will display irregularities underneath if the siding isn't in good shape.
Flat Paint
Flat paint is the best choice if painting over siding that has many dents, scrapes, or other imperfections.
Oil-Based Paint
If you're repainting a home that has been previously painted with oil-based paint, your best bet is to stick with this option. Water-based paint layered over an old oil-based paint will peel easily.
Water-Based Paint
Water-based paint, or latex paint, dries quickly and cleans up easily, making it the preferred paint for a home's exterior. It will also expand when warm and contract when cool, which means it will hold up in all types of weather.
